Introducing the PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube with Ratchet Lock Castle Nut & Endplate—engineered for superior reliability, durability, and ease of installation. Weighing just 4.3 oz, this buffer tube is crafted from impact extruded 7075 aluminum, offering exceptional strength while maintaining a mil-spec tube diameter for optimal compatibility.

One standout feature is that this buffer tube does not need to be staked. It can be easily installed using a castle nut wrench, ensuring a secure and hassle-free fit without the need for staking.

Designed with an extended carrier support lip for smoother cycling, it includes lightening cuts that shave approximately 1 oz off compared to standard mil-spec tubes. Its unique fluted design aids in debris clearing, providing extra reliability in tough environments.

With six stock positions and engraved position numbers, finding your perfect stock length is effortless. The enlarged drain holes help clear water and debris, all finished with a tough MIL-A-8625 F, Type III, Class 2 anodized coating for enhanced durability.

Built for professionals and enthusiasts alike, the PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube offers performance, easy installation, and weight savings in a package that meets the highest standards.

  1. Could be improved but great product!

Excellent quality and works great. I love the extra support the tube gives the buffer retention pin. I use the Magpul CTR stock and that works very well with these tubes. My only complaint is I cracked one of the ribs due to attempting to shave a fraction of an ounce off the weight. I use a block to hold the buffer tube while tightening the castle nut and the torque against the rib cracked the rib due to the flute reducing the strength of the rib. I only cracked one and have installed several but it is worth noting for others to be careful during installation. The ratcheting castle nut is wonderful and I will use it for all remaining builds or repairs. I only wish they would offer one without the fluted rib. Now I don't trust it, once cracked always a concern.

I bought this for my first build when I saw it because the cool factor of not having to stake the castle nut and end plate. A little later I watched some people talking about how bad the inside machining on some buffer tubes were on youtube. since I hadn't put anything together yet, I checked the inside and it was smooth as far as i could tell. When I put the whole thing together, it ran like a sewing machine. I like it so much that these are the tubes I will use every time.

  3. I won't buy a different buffer system again.

The buffer tube was the least enjoyable part of building ARs before I tried out the PWS. I will never buy another system again.
I hated the process of getting the buffer tube aligned while torquing the castle nut. I went as far as machining fixtures to hold the receiver and tube in line between two vises when installing milspec systems. NO MORE.
The end plate and buffer tube alignment notch are made to tight enough tolerances that the buffer tube has limited rotational travel. I was able to keep the buffer tube perfectly straight with one hand, while easily holding the armorer's wrench in my other (no torque wrench required). Just tighten the nut until you hear 1-2 clicks and your done.

The buffer tube is a work of art. It feels more solid than any other tube I own. Braces and stocks fit on it just like they should.
You get a QD endplate, a high quality castle nut, and an amazing buffer tube without paying an arm and a leg. Staking is easy, but the quality and ease is so compelling I plan to use this on every subsequent build.

  4. Awesome Design!

The tube feels really light. Has a great design, with extra holes drilled in it to increase water draining if you put it through its paces in a wet environment. I installed the SBA3 and it went on flawless! Cant wait to take it out and shoot my 300 AAC Black out build.

Best receiver extension out there. The ratchet castle nut and endplate are also my first choice on every rifle I build.

Seems to be excellent quality. The ratcheting castle nut is very nice, and solves the staking issue. The buffer tube seems to sturdy, though the 1 oz shaved off isn't noticeable. I like the cut for the buffer retainer too, very helpful. I use a magpul CTR stock, which has a locking lever to prevent stock wobble. The previous buffer tube (standard milspec), allowed it to lock up and remove the wobble, but this one allows about as much wobble as without the lever. Dissapointing, to say the least. Other than that, no compliants.
